National Honor Society
“The National Honor Society is the nation’s premier organization established to recognize outstanding high school students. More than just honor roll, NHS serves to recognize those students who have demonstrated excellence in the areas of scholarship, service, leadership, and character.” - National Honor Society
The Northport Chapter of the National Honor Society hosts charity drives and fundraisers, as well as, participates in a variety of service projects throughout the year to benefit the school and community.
Northport’s Student Council is a group that hosts fundraisers, charity drives, homecoming events, and various community and school wide activities throughout the school year.
Youth Advisory Council
The Leelanau Township Community Foundation Youth Advisory Council (YAC) is made up of Northport high school students who make recommendations to the foundation about grants supporting programs to benefit youth in Leelanau Township. In 2017, YAC granted nearly $12,000 to youth programs in Leelanau Township including: awarding funds to the NPS Honor Society for the annual holiday ‘Giving Tree’, providing funding for Exposures, grants to Zonta Club of Leelanau County, the Northport Youth Sailing School, Shady Trails Camp, Blessings in a Backpack through Leelanau Christian Neighbors, and Northport Public School for new lobby furniture, which has become a great place to relax for both Northport Students and community members attending NCAC events.
